Location: Crawley, West Sussex, close to the train station
Salary: £16,500 – £18,500 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Customer Service & Trade Sales Apprentices to join a growing and supportive business based in Crawley.

This is a varied, hands-on apprenticeship with approximately 70% of the role focused on customer service and trade sales and 30% supporting warehouse operations. You will work directly with customers in person, over the phone and online, helping with enquiries, sales and product requirements while also gaining practical experience supporting stock and the trade counter.

Full training will be provided, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their confidence, customer service and commercial skills while working towards a recognised Level 3 qualification.

Requirements

  • Friendly and confident communication skills
  • Genuine interest in customer service and sales
  • Comfortable speaking with customers face-to-face, over the telephone and online
  • Positive, reliable and motivated attitude
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email
  • Good numerical skills
  • Comfortable carrying out physical warehouse duties as part of the role
  • Ability to remain calm and provide good service during busy periods
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience with building or roofline materials would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be provided
  • Previous customer service or sales experience would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Able to reliably commute to Crawley

Responsibilities for an Apprentice
Customer Service & Trade Sales – approximately 70%
 

  • Welcome and assist customers at the trade counter
  • Build positive relationships with customers in person, over the telephone and online
  • Respond to customer enquiries and help identify their requirements
  • Develop product knowledge to provide helpful and accurate customer support
  • Assist customers with product selection and general queries
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Identify opportunities to support sales growth
  • Learn how to provide excellent customer service throughout the customer journey
  • Develop confidence communicating with both new and existing customers
  • Support general trade counter activities
  • Help maintain accurate customer and sales information

Warehouse Support – approximately 30%
 

  • Assist with loading and unloading stock and materials
  • Help organise and maintain stock
  • Support the team with stock checks and general warehouse activities
  • Help ensure products and materials are stored correctly
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised trade counter and warehouse
  • Work with colleagues to ensure stock is readily available for customers
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the wider operation

There are no driving or delivery duties associated with this apprenticeship.

Apprenticeship Information
You will be enrolled on the Level 3 Customer Service Specialist Apprenticeship, typically completed over approximately 18 months. This includes:
 

  • Regular workplace-based learning supported by your training provider and line manager
  • A minimum of 6 hours per week of off-the-job training
  • Development of skills, knowledge and behaviours aligned to the apprenticeship standard
  • Completion of a portfolio and end-point assessment
  • Functional Skills support in English or Maths if not previously achieved at Level 2

Prospects
Once you have completed your apprenticeship, there will be the opportunity to potentially progress into a permanent role, with opportunities to continue developing across customer service, trade sales and wider business operations.
